Photobook 5 à 7 @ Happy Goat [Sandy Hill], April 2023

Bring, share (and possibly trade) your photo books with others in the photo community, plus also browse the Blue Hour Zine Library collection (which contains every back issue of DIFTG since 2019). There will also be a selection of Ottawa Public Library Photobooks to browse.

This is a casual event to engage in photography-related conversation and network with others in the community. Even if you don’t have any photobooks to bring, please feel free to drop-in and hangout 🙂 Plus, this is a chance for you to check out DIFTG’s group exhibition Home, which will be on display at the cafe. Please note, this is a drop-in event and registration is not required but seating is limited.

Broken Pencil Magazine’s CANZINE @ Ottawa Art Gallery, November 2022

We were happy to be part of Broken Pencil Magazine's Canzine this year, a festival of zines and underground print culture, hosted at the Ottawa Art Gallery in the Alma Duncan Salon. At our table we had the entire backlist of Do It For The Grain to browse, plus dozens of photo zines from our collection - including ones we recently acquired this autumn. We met tons of friendly folks interested in our library, and we were inspired by all of the other vendors in attendance. Thank you, Broken Pencil, for creating this welcoming space!

Winter Zine Market @ Black Squirrel Books, December 2021

Blue Hour's soft launch was held at Black Squirrel Books in Ottawa, Ontario, on December 4, 2021. The entire back catalogue of Do It For The Grain was available to browse, along with the our collection of artists' zines. Through a fundraising raffle and print/postcard sales at the event, DIFTG was able to raise over $600 for Cornerstone Housing for Women, the largest women’s-only shelter in Ottawa, supporting those in need by providing emergency housing, emotional support, and outreach programs.
